CCCC: General Physics Offerings

The options for completion below include the minimum number of credit hours a student can expect to receive coupled with the most stringent requirement for universal acceptance. Some institutions may award more credit hours or accept lower AP or IB scores. Students should consult their institution of choice for specific requirements.

Students will receive at least three (3) degree credits for Physics from the participating institutions by completing one of the following options below:
  1. Physics International Baccalaureate Exam with a score of 5 or higher (will award 4 credits)
  2. Physics B Advanced Placement Exam with a score of 4 or higher
  3. Physics C: Mechanical Advanced Placement Exam with a score of 5
  4. Dual Enrollment General Physics I and/or II (VCCS course numbers 201 and 202) with a grade of C or higher
Note: Students attending University of Virginia, College of William & Mary, and Virginia Tech should consult their institution to determine if credit will be awarded for dual enrollment courses in physics.
