Through Sweet Briar College's Junior Year in Spain (JYS) students study at the University of Seville, one of Spain's most prestigious universities. The University of Seville itself occupies a huge, 18th-century baroque building, formerly the Real Tabacalera, or tobacco factory, the setting for Bizet's "Carmen". The program provides an academic experience designed to increase students' competency in the Spanish language while permitting the selection of courses in disciplines for which students qualify. The JYS Center is conveniently located directly across the street from the University of Seville on Calle San Fernando. For more information visit our web site at http://www.jys.sbc.edu.
