The Sweet Briar Junior Year in France Program (JYF) is the oldest coeducational intercollegiate American program in Paris. Classes are offered at the Sorbonne (Paris III, IV, VII and IX) and other institutions of higher learning such as, the Institut Catholique, the Alliance francaise and the Faculte Libre d'Economie et de Droit. Students consistently rate the program highly in terms of value, wide selection of classes, and facilities. Over 6000 students from 272 schools have participated in this prestigious program to date, which is now celebrating its 58th year. A new JYF summer program opened in 2006. For more information, please visit our web site at http://www.jyf.sbc.edu. or contact Dr. Margaret Scouten, Director at (434) 381-6109.
Through Sweet Briar College's Junior Year in Spain (JYS) students study at the University of Seville, one of Spain's most prestigious universities. The University of Seville itself occupies a huge, 18th-century baroque building, formerly the Real Tabacalera, or tobacco factory, the setting for Bizet's "Carmen". The program provides an academic experience designed to increase students' competency in the Spanish language while permitting the selection of courses in disciplines for which students qualify. The JYS Center is conveniently located directly across the street from the University of Seville on Calle San Fernando. For more information visit our web site at http://www.jys.sbc.edu. |
